Suffolk has worked with Verizon Media on three of its crucial mission critical projects: two in Lockport, N.Y., and one in Quincy, Wash. After Suffolk successfully completed a 600-kilowatt expansion at a live data center in Lockport, about 25 miles from Buffalo, Verizon chose Suffolk to simultaneously manage a major 10.8-megawatt expansion of a data center in Lockport and a 1.8-megawatt expansion of the Quincy live data center.
The larger Lockport data center has more than 12,000 computer servers and handles about 60 percent of Verizon鈥檚 North American traffic, including Yahoo! TechCrunch, Huffington Post and more. Suffolk鈥檚 work on this project is providing capacity for Verizon鈥檚 expansion in that market for the next five years.
In Quincy, Suffolk is leveraging its national relationships and high-performing teams across the country to deliver a successful project. Quincy is on the Columbia River, between Seattle and Spokane. With few trade partners in the area, Suffolk has used its national subcontractor connections to solve challenges on the local level. The company has also pulled together an effective team in this remote location, thanks to the high caliber of talent in Suffolk鈥檚 various regional offices.
鈥婣t all these projects, Suffolk has been able to tailor its services to meet Verizon鈥檚 needs on both public and private sector requirements. The best work demands creative, collaborative solutions, and our team works to anticipate and overcome every challenge. As Jeff Davis, Principal Program Manager at Verizon Media, put it, 鈥淲e hired Suffolk for our project because they have the owner鈥檚 concerns as top priority. Suffolk鈥檚 sense of honesty and financial concern鈥攎aking sure we are working within the budget鈥攕hows the team is concerned about our goals. Suffolk鈥檚 responses continuing to be in our interest is a key reason for continuing to hire the company.鈥
