Treasures Room Renovation - New York, NY

Project Overview

The New York Public Library Treasures Project includes the restoration of Gottesman Hall in the Stephen A. Schwarzman Building.

The Treasures Room houses the Polonsky Exhibition, which includes the most significant books, maps, scripts, maps, prints, and artifacts in the Library鈥檚 collection. The work was performed in an occupied historic landmark public building which remained in full and regular operation throughout the duration of this work.

The scope of work consisted of selective historical removal and dismantling of stone, windows and of an overhead roll up door, historical restoration of the existing finishes for stone, metal and the wood ceiling and new bronze door, all glass door and HM Metal door. The existing window film was removed and replaced with new glass film, and existing lights fixtures were re-circuited to include emergency lighting.

Upgrades were also made to electrical, data, security, and audio-visual systems. The owner furnished and install the new casework for the historical artifacts.
